What is your Sewing Goal for 2021?

 We are coming to the close of 2020. It's been a year like no other. So I was thinking is there something I really want to do in 2021 sewing wise. I have plenty of business goals I have already set myself but I haven't thought much about the sewing. This year I had the Quiltworx Certified Shop program to work through. Which now I look back on and think Wow did I learn a lot. I still need to do the new Technique of the month Coral Reef but I am just waiting on fabric to arrive.

Do you have any sewing goals for 2021? Have you a plan already? Maybe you don't want to set yourself a goal. Is there something that you really would like to learn? There are so many different thing we can learn/do and we just need to put it out in the universe and start thinking how we can acheive it. It may be as simple as learning a technique. 

An example for you. A few of the ladies in my classes want to learn how to the Quilt as you Go technique. It came up during a workshop, by talking about that day we will be have that workshop in the first half of the year.  So if there is something you are interested in learning let me know and I may be able to arrange a workshop.

For me I have had to put my rulerwork quilting aside which I want to go back to and work on some new designs and workshops to enhance my Freestyling Rulerwork workshop. During 2020 I basically was only doing the basics over and over again. It's great lots of ladies have had their Rulerwork journeys started because of that, but it has left me some what uninspired.  I have a number of small projects ready to go when I am ready.

Christmas is nearly here. Plans for 2021 Workshop season.

 Christmas is only a week away. It is the last weekend the shop is open until the 2nd January. Sunday will see the last session of Project Uninterrupted for the year. It will be the last time the Sunday session of Project Uninterrupted held on the third Sunday of the month. 

As of February 2021 it will be moved to the 1st Sunday of the month, joining the Friday and Saturday sessions. 10 am-2pm- Hopefully it will make it easier to keep track of the date. There are a few changes to next year's workshop calendar. Project Uniterrupted is our Sit and Sew sessions, no Teacher in the classroom. It is strictly sit, sew and chat. If you require teaching assistance in these sessions you will be charged accordingly- the Patchwork 101 price. That includes if someone in the group is doing the teaching. They are there to enjoy some sewing time themselves. It is not fair to them or me as the shop owner for this to be going on. It is why we have the Patchwork 101 sessions.

No workshops during January except for our Burra Retreat which I am hoping to make in to an annual event. The shop will be open during January for shopping, depending on the hot weather. I may close early or not open at all in the extreme temperatures. 

Patchwork 101 Saturday sessions goes from once a month to three times a month- second, third and fourth Saturday of the month, This replicates the Friday's program which we ran this year and it worked well. You can do nearly anything in this class as there is a teacher on hand for assistance.  10 am - 1pm. 

Also this year we launch our dedicated Quiltworx monthly  workshops including a Technique of the month program which this year will be Glacier Star.  At this stage I have 1 spot left for the Glacier Star workshops, Contact the shop for more details. There will be other Quiltworx patterns on offer.

Of course we will have a range of other workshops for you to do during the course of the year as part of our Expand your Knowledge series. Some featured on particular projects and others on techniques. 

Freestyling Rulerwork Workshops will continue, every 4-8 weeks depending on demand, but remember you can do rulerwork in our Patchwork 101 sessions. You just need to book into a session which I am running. So make sure you tell me you want to do rulerwork and I will make sure to book you in to the right session.

Fractured Paintbox Eye Candy

Fractured Paintbox is my favourite Quiltworx pattern to introduce students to the Quiltwox foundation paper piecing techniques. It always looks fantastic. I have never seen one I didn't like and I have some extra ideas I want to play with when I have some time to play. These photos were sent to me from a workshop I ran in December 2019. Cathy has done a fantastic job piecing her Fractured Paintbox and then she had Chris quilt it for her. It is a beautiful pattern to finish it off.

I have been increasing the range in store and I can always order something in if I don't have stock.

 This is the second year we have  run a Quiltworx Technique of the Month series in store, for you to expand your skills. This year we are doing Paradise in Bloom, which is coming to an end in August. So I am working on next year's project which will be  the Quiltworx Glacier Star.

Our Paradise in Bloom workshop

On Sunday we had our fourth workshop on the Quiltworx Paradise in Bloom series. We had very productive day and are starting to see our hard work coming together.

At the end of the day we laid out what we had completed so far, to get a glimpse of what our quilts are going to look like.

 

Next time we get together we will be assembling our quilts.

Paradise in Bloom Update

With all the craziness going on in the world, I have been having trouble focusing. I have been feeling I am in a bumper car, bouncing from one thing to another. Even sewing hasn't helped much. I did some of my Paradise in Bloom homework over Easter.

I am using some interesting fabrics from Robert Kaufman to go with my batiks this time. They have come Sky by.   The range gives you a graduate sky colouring. I hope it will achieve the effect I am looking for.

When I got to this stage I had to lay out what I had, so I could double check the shading for the two sections I needed to cut.

I am very happy how well it is coming out. 

Some more homework yet to be done. The flowers to go in these baskets.
