One Monthly Goal- August Goal

August is here and it's time to set a new goal for August. I am struggling with the work load and I am hope setting myself a goal to get me back on track. There is a lot of work to do and with me hosting our Anything Goes retreat  at Burra next week, sewing time will be precious time at the machine. So what I am going to do is set myself a goal that doesn't require a machine. I have 3 quilts that need binding only to complete them, so that is my goal.

There is this scrappy one, which will be a workshop.
This is one of the 3 yard Quilts. Another workshop sample.

Then there is my Paradise in Bloom quilt.
A cheeky black cat that wasn't willing to move to let me take a picture of it quilted. Though I don't have the space in the shop to open it up completely.

I have linked my post with Elm Street Quilts goal setting post here. So pop over and check out what everyone is working on.

One Monthly Goal - June's Report

Here we are at the end of the month. Where did June go?  I set myself to the task of finishing this quilt. See my original post here,

It seem not a lot was done in June but I can say I did complete this quilt.

I am not sure how or when I did it but it is completed and hanging up in the shop. It is a shame the panels and half of the fabric from this range has already sold out. I am too slow sometimes, too slow. Then again the customers have seen me working on this project over the last 12 months has inspired them to get in early and purchased what they need to create their own version.

One Monthly Goal - May's Goal Completed

This month I had a two part goal to complete. You can see my goal setting here.

Part one of this month's challenge was to sew three sections together to form a diamond. This was the easy part of the goal, so this was easily achieved.

My completed diamonds and laid out as the centre of my quilt.

Part two of this month's goal was to piece the next section of my Glacier Star. This part was more time consuming but I got there just in time. These sections will fit over the top of the diamonds.

I am very pleased how they came out. I am looking forward to the next section, which I managed to cut ready to sew.

One Monthly Goal- April's Goal Completed

April was a blur. It started off busy and continued through the month, leaving me short on time to do much myself. I set myself  to finish quilting this quilt. You can see my goal setting post here.  It is two days in to the new month and I am only posted it now.

\

Now the month is coming to a close I can tell you I have finished the quilting all the way to the outside borders. I didn't get to binding it, but that is ok as I didn't think I would get there. The main aim was to finish quilting it, That job was done.

Some pictures of the back to show you the quilting in more details.

One Monthly Goal- April's Goal

Now some would say March was a bust by not completing my goal. I am taking a different view on that, with the fact I did complete half of the blocks I set myself. Progress counts, and the job is now half the size it was at the beginning of March. That other half can wait for another time, though I may slip them in if time permits.
This month I think I want to do some quilting, after running a rulerwork workshop in March I want to do some more. I have this quilt to be quilted. I did start the quilting a couple of weeks ago but the aim is to finish the quilting. Binding would be a bonus but not likely with my load for April.

One Monthly Goal- March's Goal Completed or Not

This month I set myself the goal to finish the last 6 American Honey blocks. You can find my original post here.

These are not small blocks and they take a bit of time to make with 20 pieces per block. So you have to make the sub blocks first lay out your block before you can sew the block together. Well in the end I didn't make it. I did get 3 of the blocks completed. That is at least half of the blocks done.

You may see this one pop up in my challenges again soon. These blocks are so beautiful. I can't believe I have not finish them as I love every block when I complete it.

One Monthly Goal -March's Goal

March is here, February didn't go as I planned but that is life. So onward to a new goal for March. This month I was thinkng to pick a project off my unfinished project list and then had second thoughts on that idea. Is it too big an asking for March?

Then I changed my mind a picked a project on the list that still needed blocks to complete it. My American Honey quilt still needs 6 blocks , though the blocks are large and I could stop right now and still have a large quilt in the end. The only thing stopping me is the fact I have cut the fabric for the last six blocks. I don't like to waste fabric.

Twelve of my fourteen blocks are pictured here. So that is my goal for this month, six more blocks to finish my twenty.

One Monthly Goal -February Completed?

I had two quilts to bind this month. Here is my original post with all the details. That is all I set myself for February. A task that really should have been achieved. In theory it should have been completed but in my world things always go a bit haywire, things don't go to plan, something else gets in the way and so on.

In the end I got just over halfway through February goal. One quilt was totally completed.

The other quilt got the binding attached to the quilt but I have only just started the final step to finish the binding off. It shouldn't take me too long to finish it off now that I am at this stage.

One Monthly Goal February Goal

We have reached February already and it's time to set a new goal for the month.  I thought I have this one covered, a couple of quilts will need their binding added. The thing is I haven't yet picked them up for my long arm quilter Valerie. So how do I do a goal setting post without any pictures on hand of the quilts. I know one there is no picutre but the motorbike one I swear I took a couple of pictures. Checked my computer- no luck, checked Blogger I must have posted an in progress picture during the making- no picture either. New phone so no point checking there.  Not on my tablet either. So i wait until I pick them up and realise there is actually 3 quilts that will need binding. I am only putting two down for this month's goal. Here they are my motorbike panel quilt.

As always they are beautifully quilted this one has cogs all over it.

The second one is my Freespirit Sunflower Quilt.
This one was a fun quilt to make. I love how it looks seamless from left to right with the blocks sitting in the middle. It's like they are sitting on top.

Now to pick binding for both projects.

One Monthly Goal- January's Finish

Our first challenge of the year is over.  How did I do? I have started a Stitching Diary for this year called My Stitching Snapshot. A way to encourage myself to do a few stitches every day and to prove to myself I am making progress.  I am hoping I can complete more goals that I set myself. Even if I don't, a few stitches every day is good for the soul.

I started the year off with an English Paper pieced project that I started back in 2019. You can see my goal setting post here.  One block is all I had to do.

Here it is. Yes it is missing the centre but I am leaving all the centres to the end because I am think I may make all the centres the same.

I have linked my post with Elm Street Quilts post so pop over and check out how everyone did and maybe you will join us in February.

One Monthly Goal - January's Goal

It's the beginning of a new year, so it's time to set our first monthly goal for 2021. So to start the year off I want to finish my third Abbie block. This is what the block looks like.

Each block will look a bit different as I move the fabrics around for each block. I still haven't decided on a background beside the fact it will most likely be dark.

As you can see this is a hand piecing project English Paper piecing actually, so it will take me a little bit of time to make one block. At least the parts are ready to sew together.

One Monthly Goal - November's Project

How did I do this month? It is the big question on the month. I am working on my Wedding Star Tble Topper with the aim to get it to quilt top stage. See my original post here

The plan to get this one together was suppose to be an easy finish and a quick finish. With so much on my plate currently, failure to complete was high on the list. Fortunately I was able to complete this one to quilt top in the the first 10 days of the month.

I even played around with making a single ring as I have papers left to do it.  When I get some free time I may make a small table toper to match.

This led me to picking up last month's project that I didn't manage to complete and do some extra work on that one.

Bonus that I got last month project up to borders.

I have linked my post with Elm Street Quilts finishing post, so pop over and check out the wide variety of projects that have been worked on this month. You may want to join us next month.

One Monthly Goal- November's Goal

We are here at the beginning of November. Time to set November goal. Last month was a bust I didn't get close to completing it. I did make progress, if that counts.

So this month I promise to do better. I am going to work on a smaller project. This way if I can get it finished to quilt top stage I will get back to last month's project. I am going to work on my /wedding /star /table /topper.  I am at this stage of the project, I think I can make it.

I need to make a couple of melons, then I can do the four patches, cut the corner pieces to square it up and join it all together..
A close uo of the centre. Here goes, let's see if I can do it.  I have linked my post with Elm Street Quilts Goal setting post, so pop over and check out what everyone is working on/.

One Monthly Goal- October's Goal

Time to select October's project. I thought long and hard there is a number of projects I could list this month to completed but which one or do I do all of them. Now that would be crazy!  Maybe possible if I don't go to work for the month I could do that, but this is the real world and that will not happen.

So though I have three I want to complete this month I have selected the one that is sitting by my machine, that I started last month at retreat, Then 3 pieces from the end of the first 24 blocks I realised I stuffed it up. Some of my blocks were wrong. I put it away, until now. I laid it out again and worked out where I went wrong. I now have to redo 10 blocks to correct my error.

So let's see if I can get this project to quilt top stage by the end of the month. I have linked my post with Elm Street Quilts goal setting post. So pop over and check out what everyone is doing this month.

One Montly Goal- July's Goal Completed

This month I get my goal completed early. I had big plans for the month and I want to make sure this got completed earlier. Visit my original post here to see what I planned to complete. I thought this would be a big job to tackle which it was. So I am happy to say that it is completed.
I haven't had the time to lay it all out but this give you an idea of what I was doing. Eight of these sections.

Plus 4 sections  for the basket sections completed in good time allowing me to move on to other projects this month.

One Monthly Goal - June's Finish

We are at the end of June and I have not spent much time stitching, I didn't start this month goal until the 13th June. Click here to find out more about this month goal.

So here I am on the last weekend of the month trying to finish it. It is one of the Quiltworx projects I need to complete as part of journey to becoming a Quiltworx certified shop.

It should have been easy, but here I am under pressure to finish it. Now I have to wait until December before I can baste and quilt it.

One Monthly Goal - June's Goal

We find ourselves in June already. What is there I need to do?  I have a long list but I thought I would work on this project That I need to make Broken Daisy     I need to make 2 placemats. So it should be an easy task.

I have it all cut out, so it is a matter of finding the sewing time to make the parts up.

I have linked my post with Elm Street Quilts post, so pop over and see what everyone is up to.

One Monthly Goal - May's Goal Completed

We have reached the end of May and it's time to report in on how we did. You can see my goal setting post here.
I was working on these blocks. I needed 24 more blocks for my Charmed Elements quilt. Technically a smaller version of Quiltworx Fractured Paintbox.
I got all the blocks made and had fun working on the layout with my little assistant. She is very good at rearranging blocks.
This is my final layout. Now let's hope I can sew it together in the right order.

It didn't happen. I stuffed it up more than once and not realised until I got the blocks all together.  So I had to unpick the offending blocks and fix it. How I did it, is beyond me as I had the rows pinned. How I got a block from row 3 in row 4 and the row 4 block in row 3 I have no idea.

Than after fixing that I discovered a block in row 2 was twisted. More unpicking, until I end up with this version. Now I am happy, though grizzling at myself for stuffing it up and losing time on something else I could have been working on.
I have the borders to go, but the task was to finish the blocks.
I have linked my post with Elm Street Quilt post, so pop over and see how everyone else did with their goals.
