One Monthly Goal - June's Report

Here we are at the end of the month. Where did June go?  I set myself to the task of finishing this quilt. See my original post here,

It seem not a lot was done in June but I can say I did complete this quilt.

 I am not sure how or when I did it but it is completed and hanging up in the shop. It is a shame the panels and half of the fabric from this range has already sold out. I am too slow sometimes, too slow. Then again the customers have seen me working on this project over the last 12 months has inspired them to get in early and purchased what they need to create their own version.

One Monthly Goal - June's Goal

  

Here we are in June already. Time to pick this months goal. 

I really want to complete a project on my UFO list but don't have a lot of time this month. I had a quick look at my list and there is a panel quilt on it that was at quilting stage. I have done the quilting, so it only needs binding to complete it. That is it for this month.

The binding is the same as the first border. I should be able to make a label and bind it during June.

One Monthly Goal - May's Goal Completed

 This month I had a two part goal to complete. You can see my goal setting here. 

Part one of this month's challenge was to sew three sections together to form a diamond. This was the easy part of the goal, so this was easily achieved.

My completed diamonds and laid out as the centre of my quilt.

Part two of this month's goal was to piece the next section of my Glacier Star. This part was more time consuming but I got there just in time. These sections will fit over the top of the diamonds.

I am very pleased how they came out. I am looking forward to the next section, which I managed to cut ready to sew.

One Monthly Goal- May's Goal

 Things are crazy here and I want time to work on my unfinished projects but it is not working out for me. So I am set myself a goal that hopefully will be achievable in the sense I need to do it before the next workshop to stay ahead of my students. So far this year I have been doing ok with this one, so I am planning to keep it that way. 

So that plan for May is to join these sections together. 

That is an easy task I hear your say and yes it is, only 16 seams to sew. That is only part 1 of my plan. I also want to complete the next section which has two section in it.  It is the spikes that run along the joined sections.

So there is a bit of work in this month's goal. Though it was tempting to only set the first part for the month. That would have been really cheeky of me.

One Monthly Goal- April's Goal Completed

 April was a blur. It started off busy and continued through the month, leaving me short on time to do much myself. I set myself  to finish quilting this quilt. You can see my goal setting post here.  It is two days in to the new month and I am only posted it now.

Now the month is coming to a close I can tell you I have finished the quilting all the way to the outside borders. I didn't get to binding it, but that is ok as I didn't think I would get there. The main aim was to finish quilting it, That job was done.

One Monthly Goal- March's Goal Completed or Not

 This month I set myself the goal to finish the last 6 American Honey blocks. You can find my original post here.

These are not small blocks and they take a bit of time to make with 20 pieces per block. So you have to make the sub blocks first lay out your block before you can sew the block together. Well in the end I didn't make it. I did get 3 of the blocks completed. That is at least half of the blocks done. 

You may see this one pop up in my challenges again soon. These blocks are so beautiful. I can't believe I have not finish them as I love every block when I complete it.

One Monthly Goal- December's Goal Not Achieved.

 I set myself to finish these blocks. See my original post here.  8 blocks was my plan.

I started the month off great with two blocks completed in the first week of the month. Then things went down hill from there.   I am afraid 2 blocks is all I managed,

There is no way I am going to get 6 more blocks done in 3 days, so I am calling it a bust now and moving on to what I need to complete. No point beating myself up over it. It's not going to happen, don't waste anymore time on it.

At least there is only 6 more blocks to go, when I get there.

One Monthly Goal- December's Goal

Last month of the year, it could be a tricky month. Will I have time to do much sewing or will everything use up my time keeping me away from the sewing machine,

This month I have looked back on my project list I review at the back in January. I want this month project to be one that has been hanging around a while and I want to see some progress on it.

Shuffling through the crate of unfinished projects I couldn't find the one I was looking for. Where is it? or Maybe I wasn't looking hard enough. No matter. I have pick something else out instead.

My American Honey blocks. 12 blocks are completed. 

Still a few more to go looking in the box. At least they are all cut out ready to sew.

To finish all my  remaining blocks is the goal for December.

One Monthly Goal- November's Goal

 

We are here at the beginning of November. Time to set November goal. Last month was a bust I didn't get close to completing it. I did make progress, if that counts.

So this month I promise to do better. I am going to work on a smaller project. This way if I can get it finished to quilt top stage I will get back to last month's project. I am going to work on my /wedding /star /table /topper.  I am at this stage of the project, I think I can make it.

I need to make a couple of melons, then I can do the four patches, cut the corner pieces to square it up and join it all together..

Unfortunately I didn't reach my goal. I did make some progress. I have had some much on my plate, there was hardly any sewing during month. You know that makes it's extremely difficult to complete your sewing goals. This is where I got to for October.

One Monthly Goal- September's Goal

This month I have selected this project to work on. It is a Quiltworx project -Poinsettia. It's a table topper. It is one of the projects I need to finish. I started it last month and need to get it to quilt top pretty quickly. All the piecing is done but I now need to add the border pieces and sew it all together.

One Monthly Goal - August's Report

 We have come to the end of August I set myself one goal here and in our Project Uninterrupted group. See my original post here. 

Combining the two meant I only had one set of goals to finish and hopefully making it an easier month on myself. Even at the last Friday of the month I was pushing it. Friday was going to be the day I still needed 3 more blocks to complete my goal. With a busy weekend teaching, the chances of finishing was going to be slim.  By Friday night I did get 2 more made, so I am up to five.

Sunday night saw me complete the sixth block just in the nick of time.

One Monthly Goal- August's Goal

 What to set myself to complete in August? There is so many projects I need to work on, some with fast approaching deadline. I have decided to double up on a goal set in our Project Uninterrupted Facebook group. I had the group select four projects that they wanted to make some progress on this year and on the 1st August I selected a number and everyone who has posted their list is going to work on that number project for August. Hopefully we will see some progress. I pulled no 2 out of the hat.

That means I have to complete 6 more blocks for my American Honey Quilt. I have made 6 already, so this will double my blocks.

One Montly Goal- July's Goal Completed

This month I get my goal completed early. I had big plans for the month and I want to make sure this got completed earlier. Visit my original post here to see what I planned to complete. I thought this would be a big job to tackle which it was. So I am happy to say that it is completed.

I haven't had the time to lay it all out but this give you an idea of what I was doing. Eight of these sections.

 Plus 4 sections  for the basket sections completed in good time allowing me to move on to other projects this month.

One Monthly Goal- July's Goal

Here we are in July. Not sure what to put for this month's goal. My original idea was a project I know I was making this month but it is part of the Christmas in July Blog Hop which means I couldn't share the picture here. 

So I have set the goal to finish all the applique in my Paradise in Bloom quilt. As applique is not on my list of favourite thing to do I thought this was the best option to keep me on track rather than making excuses why I haven't done it.

There is eight of these blocks to applique and four basket blocks to do.

One Monthly Goal - June's Finish

We are at the end of June and I have not spent much time stitching, I didn't start this month goal until the 13th June. Click here to find out more about this month goal.

So here I am on the last weekend of the month trying to finish it. It is one of the Quiltworx projects I need to complete as part of journey to becoming a Quiltworx certified shop.

 It should have been easy, but here I am under pressure to finish it. Now I have to wait until December before I can baste and quilt it.

One Monthly Goal - May's Goal Completed

We have reached the end of May and it's time to report in on how we did. You can see my goal setting post here.
I was working on these blocks. I needed 24 more blocks for my Charmed Elements quilt. Technically a smaller version of Quiltworx Fractured Paintbox.

I got all the blocks made and had fun working on the layout with my little assistant. She is very good at rearranging blocks.

This is my final layout. Now let's hope I can sew it together in the right order.

It didn't happen. I stuffed it up more than once and not realised until I got the blocks all together.  So I had to unpick the offending blocks and fix it. How I did it, is beyond me as I had the rows pinned. How I got a block from row 3 in row 4 and the row 4 block in row 3 I have no idea.

Than after fixing that I discovered a block in row 2 was twisted. More unpicking, until I end up with this version. Now I am happy, though grizzling at myself for stuffing it up and losing time on something else I could have been working on.

I have the borders to go, but the task was to finish the blocks.

One Monthly Goal- April's Finish

We have survived April. The question is did we complete our goals or were we side tracked?  Check out my goal for April here.

More binding happening. I start with the charity quilt binding as it had been sewn on to the quilt already. so as far as I was concerned I was halfway through before I started.

Done.

My Fractured Paintbox was my next task. I hadn't even decided on the binding fabric yet. In the end I  used the charcoal grey fabric that I had used in the quilt. I got it ready and got to sew it on during our Project Uninterrupted Pajama Party which was held on Zoom. All of us in our sewing spaces at home but together via the internet. It was good to catch up with everyone who joined in.
 So I spent some evenings finishing the binding off and I can mark this one off my list.

One Monthly Goal- March's Goal Completed.

I had a rough month in February and failed to complete my goal in February. So I had to add that to March's goal. See my original post here.

First to be completed is the binding on my Dragon quilt before I can move on to the next binding job.

Then I got in to the next charity quilt binding.

Since I was on a binding roll I got stuck in to the next binding job.

There is 1 more ready to bind. Plus one more to baste, quilt and bind
