Christmas Reproduction Sampler

This is the first post focusing on the Christmas Sampler quilt. I have shared my block progress in my monthly 350 Block Report as the year has progressed but never as a single post solely on this project mainly because it was being created as we went. The blocks were selected the month before for the following month. Now all the blocks have been completed I thought I would share them.
Not all of these blocks will make the quilt as I only need 35 blocks. The remaining block plus a couple extra block will end up in a matching cushion I think.

Sashing is next followed by the borders. I just have to make my mind up on the second border. What I had selected arrived during the week and I am not sold on it now that I have the fabric in my hands. Don't get me wrong it is beautiful fabric but it just seems too bright for the project but I will get all the blocks together and double check it before making the final decision.

350 Block Report 2016- November's Report

Here we go for November.
One octagon block. It got done then I have misplaced it so no picture.

What happened after the first octagon block Oh boy not a lot.
I must say in my defence there was my cousin's wedding which involved a trip to Sydney then a week later another cousin turned 40 so a big weekend of family time with the other side of the family.

Then I got to do some sewing and I completed the remaining 11 blocks from the Sew It Together Sew Along. I have cut the sashing strips ready for me to join the blocks together.

2 more Octagon block

The last 3 Reproduction Christmas Sampler blocks done.

2 test blocks for a secret project for next year. Sorry no photo at this stage.

Lastly 9 neutral four patches. There will be a lot of these to come I think.
So the total for this month is 28.

350 Block Project 2016 - August Report

After July being a non event for sewing. I wanted to make sure August didn't go the same way.
This month's total is 30.

I know I have to finish my row  for The Road Home Row Along so there was my starting point. Three blocks done. Sorry I can't share a picture of the row finished but you can visit my blog on the 6th September and you will see it.

I started a Christmas project and so far I have 12 HST units.

One more star point was add to my Forget Me Not Quilt. Then there is only one more star point to go and I can finally move on to the next step.

Three more Christmas Sampler blocks.

Lastly 4 hourglass blocks for a new project.  I know what am I doing starting another new project. I should finish some of the ones I have started. I promise I will soon.

So this month's total is 23.
Better than last month but not as much as I would like, such a small total means I still didn't spend much time at the sewing machine as only the Forget Me Not Quilt list is the only hand piecing project worked on.

350 Block Project- July's Report

This month's total is 30 blocks.

Oh boy!!! Not a good sewing month.

I have finished my first block of my Pemberley Quilt.

Plus my three Christmas Sampler blocks for July.
One more section on my Forget Me Not Sew Along.

Lastly 2 Octagon blocks- only 1 picture due to me not being totally happy with the first one and  I am seriously considering redoing it. If I thought I could count it as 2 for the month I might of redone it already.

So this month's grand total is 7. Not very good and I don't know if August will be any better, looking at what is on the calendar. We will see what happens.

350 Block Project - June's Report

This month's total is 30 blocks.
I started with finishing some quilting and binding before swapping back to my 1/4" foot and back to block making and I must say I am feeling good to get 3 projects cleared away.
So where do I start.
More Scrap Crazy blocks this time controlled placement of fabrics is going to give a totally different look though the block layout is the same. It is all in the fabric. 16 blocks.

Three test blocks for the Christmas Sampler I needed to test the blocks for size. I didn't want to waste the Sampler fabric in case my measurements were out.

Once the the test blocks were correct I made my 4 blocks for this month.

Only 3 pictures, why have I missed 1 block. I don't know.

One test block for my next Stash Bash Sewing Party which is going to be scrappy. Well my scrappy.
 Secret at this stage.

Four octagon blocks for the All Over the Octagon Fussy Cutting Fabric Club.

My Scrap Dance quilt finally has the rows sewn together for 4 more to my total.

Along with my blocks from Quiltmaker 2015 New Year mystery quilt along are now a quilt top for 12 more.

So in the end the total is 44 for this month.

350 Block Project 2016 - April's Report

This month's total is 30 blocks.

It has been a slow month for stitching. There always seem to be something else that needed doing keeping me away from the sewing machine. I did manage some English Paper piecing and made 6 hexagons for a sample project.

When I did get to the machine I made my 4 Christmas sampler blocks but that took a whole afternoon, plus some.

23 little Four Patch block got made for the need to sew something. There might have to be a scrap project in the making so I can use these up.

Lastly 1 Scrap Dance Tango block A got made 4 more yet to be made.

So my total for the month stands at 34.

My Christmas Reproduction Sampler blocks.

I have been struggling this month with everything. I don't know why things have been hard to complete. I haven't had a lot of sewing or creating time so I have been struggling with what to write about in my blog post.
Today I did manage a little sewing time and I finished this month Christmas Sampler blocks. Looking through my previous posts I noticed I haven't done a single post on this project. I have mention it in passing in other posts and considering I have completed blocks 10-13. It was time to share my progress on my Christmas Sampler quilt. Here are the four blocks I have made this week.

Here is all the blocks I have made so far this year.  This project is a twelve month program and there is 35 blocks in the quilt plus a few extra blocks for a little bonus project at the end after quilt is completed.
Now I do have a few Christmas Reproduction Block of the month packages still available if you wish to join us. One of the benefits of starting now is when you get to the end of your 12 month May next year you will have some extra time to quilt and bind your quilt compare to us trying to do all that in December this year. Click over to Cynthia's Ark and click on the Blocks of the Month to purchase.

Cynthia's Ark Christmas Reproduction Sampler BOM

If you have visited my Facebook page recently you may have seen the post on my new Block of the Month.  This project started out as a special customer request and as I worked on it I could see it running as a Block of the Month program, so the last few weeks I have been working on it flat out to get it through the design stages ready for sewing and instruction writing.
Here are some of the basic details for you to get things started. It will be a mystery to start with but I will reveal the quilt design once I am happy with the final block placements. There will be 35 blocks x 6 inch in this quilt and it will be a machine pieced sampler but it wouldn't be hard to do it by hand if you prefer. The colours will be an assortment of reproduction reds, greens and creams. Here is a guide to the layout of the quilt and the first 3 blocks. There will be a mix of blocks at different skill levels. As you can see January's blocks are at the easy level but I will mix them up as we go along. The finished size of the quilt is approx. 50 x 64 inches.

So each month over 12 months you will receive a parcel that will have the fabrics for your blocks with instructions on how to piece the blocks. Most months there will be 3 blocks but a couple months you will have 4 blocks. Plus over the 12 months you will receive your sashing and cornerstone fabrics, border and binding fabrics. The fabric will be spread over the 12 month to help keep the postage cost down. Plus there is bound to be a little Christmas gift at the end of it. The cost will be $30 plus postage(Australian Dollars) but I am happy to ship overseas, just note the postage maybe be different. This Block of the Month will be dispatch about the middle of the each month (so around the week of the 15th).
Any questions just ask me. I hope you will join me in sewing this quilt. You can sign up for the Christmas Reproduction Sampler at www.cynthiasark.com.au now. You will find it at the bottom of the homepage under the Clubs/ BOM heading. Limited spots, so be quick.

Now since we are speaking of Blocks of the Month I asked late last year about doing the Pemberley Quilt as a Block of the Month and I got some good feedback and there was enough interest. So it will go ahead. I will post more about it soon but at this stage it looks like it will be an April start for this one. It will be a little dearer than my Christmas Sampler as it is an English Paper Piecing quilt and the papers will be included with your fabrics and pattern. I will let you know when you can sign up for it but here is a picture of it if you haven't seen it.
It looks like it will be a busy year here at Cynthia's Ark. I look forward in you joining us in all the sewing adventures planned. Don't forget Project Uninterrupted has start and we are work on finishing some of our UFO project. You can join us in person at one of our workshops in store or work from where you are and join our Cynthia's Ark Project Uninterrupted group on Facebook to share what you are working on to encourage each other to finishing some projects off. For more details about Project Uninterrupted click on the button on the right hand side on my blog to get you going.
