Well I had two projects that needed binding to complete them. See my original post here. An easy goal for October I thought, even though one of the projects is large.
The small one was completed but the second one had the binding sewn on ready for the hand sewing but I have not touched it since I did it.
Two things got in the way and threw me off my target. Though I have to admit I am easily distracted. The weather was the first thing we have had 2 weeks of extreme heat for October. Yes we are warming up, leading into Summer here in South Australia, but temperature around the 40 degree(100 + for my northern hemisphere readers) is a little much even for us. Who wants a large quilt on them when it is that warm.
The second reason was my Vintage Rose quilt has come back to me from being quilted, so I was distracted by it and decided I need to finish that one too.
It is huge too, so once again it was the last thing I wanted my lap.
So I think you will be seeing these two quilts again very soon.
I have linked my post with Elm Street Quilts, so pop over to see how everyone else went.

Star Cushion
What a afternoon of sewing. I am very happy to get some sewing time in. It is a precious thing to be able to sit down at the machine for a few hours with so much else happening.
Progress has been made on the new Block of the Month, which will start around the middle of the year. I can't tell you much yet but I can tell you the pattern is from a well known Australian designer, it will be a machine piecing quilt this time and it will feature Riley Blake Design fabrics in it. Is that another clue I let slip?
You may have seen me working on this star panel over the last couple of weeks and if you have seen my post for the One Monthly Goal you would know I was aim to get the star pieced and appliqued on to the back ground fabric. I managed that.
Yippie!! I was able to take it to completion on Saturday afternoon.
To this finished project. I can tick another project off my Project Uninterrupted list with this finish too. Plus it is now a workshop sample.

Under the Pressure Foot #27
What has been happening here. I can tell you nothing at the sewing machine sadly. I have notice my day job efforts my sewing time greatly along with my blogging, designing time etc. Now that is disappointing as I am spending way too much time down stuff I don't love. Something to work on this year.
So what have I been working on in my limited time of sewing. Nothing major but there has been a little more progress on my Forget Me Not quilt, which you can find the pattern on Sue Daley's blog for free currently. I am now halfway through this step, so the end is getting closer for the English Paper piecing project.
The other project I have been working on is a class sample for a friends workshop. It is on turning a mainstream plain bag into a personalised quilters bag for your quilting tools. There is 3 of us working on a sample and three very different bags will be made for different skill levels. Mine is at the easiest level of difficult. My two panels are nearly completed. Sewing the panels on is going to be interesting.
This panel is partially sewn on to the bag.
This one is going on the other side of the bag. Hopefully I can finish this off this week.

Bringing some Projects to a close
After a busy morning cutting retreat kits I treated myself to some sewing time. Admitly these projects needed to be finished. All three projects are ready for quilting. So I pressed backings, pieced batting, yes pieced batting. Perfect to use small leftovers cuts that are too big to throw out but a little small be themselves. I like to use them for small projects.
First I pinned my alternate colour way for my retreat workshop kit.

My sample for Kate's workshop was next on my list. She would like it by the end of next week.
Lastly the second of my trio of cat quilts, which is on my Project Uninterrupted list.
All three pinned ready for quilting.
I may have trouble quilting this one. Some little cat of mine is trying to claim for herself. It is the wrong one but try and tell her that.
I think Winter is here and all the cats are looking for warm places to sleep. Hopefully I can get them quilted tomorrow.
