350 Blocks Project 2015- July's Report

I am starting to sound like a broken record. An impossible slow start to the month. Why can't I find any sewing time.
This month's total is 30 blocks.
So what did I get done.
I did some work on my Bitty Blocks May's Bear Paw blocks and making these blocks reminds me that one day I would like to make a Bear Paw quilt. May be I need to add this one to next year. All 18 Bear Paw blocks done. Now I better cut June's blocks.

I have done some work on my black and white hexagon quilt with the 3 large blocks now joined in a row.

My August block for our Batik Rainbow Fabric Club. No picture are the members haven't received their packs.

I started the Little Joys Quilt Along and I have completed 3 Christmas tree blocks and 3 wreath blocks.

Plus I started a new hand piecing project as my hexagon quilt is growing. This one is another Inklingo project but I am working with triangles, diamonds and octagons. A little different. 1 only so far.
We started the new Quiltville Leader and Ender Challenge to make a tumbler quilt. So far 2 rows completed.
I was making some Idaho Square dance blocks to fill in time before the new Leader and Ender Challenge started and there is  4 more completed I have been wondering what to do with these blocks and I think I have a place for them. It shouldn't take me long to put them together I just need another 9 blocks. Let's hope that will be enough. They are going to be one block wide runners to hide my plastic tubs when I do craft events.

July's Vacation Time The Hot Dog Stand is completed.

I had some playing with some fabric and created a table runner which has 5 blocks and 2 borders for a total of 7.

So the Grand Total for July is 40.
You know what this means I need to do some serious sewing soon or I am going to be in big trouble with a couple of deadlines.

Vacation Time Block of the Month #7

July is nearly over and I have only just finished July block for Vacation Time. How quickly is the year going? The last 3 months have flown by in a blink of an eye for me. There has been some highs and lows but that is life.   My July block The Hotdog Stand.

Here are all my blocks so far. This quilt has a lot of colour zing in it. I seem to be red a lot more this year.

Vacation Time Block of the Month #6

We are up to our 6th block and I found myself a few hours for sewing this weekend. I'm happy to find this time halfway through the month to do some sewing. So what did I start with. Vacation Time was my starting point as it is only 1 block and an easy finish. So here is June's block completed.

During the week Pat Sloan announced her 2015 Summer Lovin Table Runner Challenge using a block from her book or from Vacation Time. So I am thinking I might have a go using January's block from Vacation Time in different fabrics as I am using my beautiful batik for my Vacation Time quilt. Here is the link to the post if you are interested. http://blog.patsloan.com/2015/06/pat-sloan-summer-lovin-table-runner-challenge.html
This is what January's block looks like.

Vacation Time Block of the Month #5

This month block from Pat Sloan Vacation Time Quilt is Beach Bag. I am enjoying using these bright batiks in this project.
It is like a colour fest when I cut the fabrics and sew them together. It has a wow effect on me. I just love these reds, greens and blues together. My fabrics for this project just to tease you. Most of these are still available in my webshop if any of them take your fancy.
When I was laying out the block pieces to sew them together I noticed a different block in the block so I had to lay it out and take a picture of it so I can play with it at a later date.

So here is May's block completed how it is really meant to be.

The layout for this quilt is very interesting I can't wait to see the final quilt.

Vacation Time - Block of the Month #4

I haven't had a lot of sewing time this month just little bits and mostly it has been hand sewing as time at the machine has had to be put on the back burner when I am busy with events and April is one of the busiest months for me.
I did finally get April's block cut ready to be sewn together but it took me a few days before I could get to the machine to sew it.
Block 4.
There is so much I have to complete in the next couple of weeks I feel I may struggle
with this deadline. I will just have to push on and see where I end up I am thinking a couple of my other block of the months and quilt alongs may have to waiting to next month and catch up next month.
The first four blocks completed.

Vacation time- Block of the Month #3

Sewing time has been very lean over the last couple of weeks. So I was very happy to sit at the machine and do a little bit. It may not have made a dent in my list of sewing jobs I need to get done but you have to start somewhere. So I decided to tackle this month block for our Vacation Time quilt.
For March we have the Surf's Up block to make.
More flying geese blocks to make and I am getting a lot of practise this year at making them. So I had this one made up in no time and that is one job I can cross off my list.
Here it is.

The one thing I noticed cutting the fabric up for this block was the green fabric in the corners has made it into 3 projects so far this year. Is this fabric going to be my go to fabric for 2015 like the beige floral neutral fabric featured in 2014. We will just see how many times it turns up. I will keep a tally.

Vacation time- Block of the Month #2

We are up to our second block in our Pat Sloan's Vacation Time Block of the Month and this block reminds me of a love heart. It is actually called Toes in the Sand. These batik fabrics I am using are just so vibrant especially when you put them together. This will be a bright quilt when it is finished. I just love using batik fabrics.
So here is my second block completed.

Vacation Time- Block of the Month #1

It is time to start a new project with Pat Sloan and this years mystery quilt is Vacation Time. I have picked out the fabrics and I am going with batik fabrics this year. Here is my selection. I am missing 1 fabric at the moment and that is the border fabric so I will keep my eyes open for something suitable. My 2 creams at top of the picture are a little hard to see but there is 2 there.

The first block is Down by the Boardwalk. It looks like I am going to learn a new flying geese technique this year. Pat has included instructions on a flying geese method I haven't tried yet so I will give it a go. I like to try these different methods offered as you never know when you will find a better method of doing something. I liked the flying geese method so I will use it again.
Here is my 1st block completed.

2015- To Do List

I don't believe I am writing this post already. Where did 2014 go? I have learnt some much during 2014 with new techniques, blogging, social networking,  and I have met some great people during 2014.
So what is left on 2014 list that needs to be transfer over and the new projects that were started during 2014 that need to be added.

UFO's from 2014
1. My Pies & Tarts quilt. I am 3/4 through hand quilting this one.
2.My Farmer's Wife Sampler quilt. I have finished the top in 2014 so it is ready for quilting. I just have to decide hand quilt it or machine quilt it.

3. My Double Wedding Ring quilt which has become a bed runner. I have lots to go on this one.
4. My Disappearing Hourglass quilt. I only have made 6 blocks so far.

5. My Wishes quilt. Ready for quilting.

6. My Pink Dahlia quilt. I need to find the templates so I can continue.
7. My Inklingo Castle Wall quilt. I am working on the 2nd pieced border.

8. My Inklingo star quilt. All printed and 2 blocks completed out of 12.

9. Grand Illusion Mystery quilt. I am currently working on the blocks.
10. My Lozenge scrap quilt. All ready for blocks to be assembled, if I don't change my mind and want to make it bigger.

11. My Aurifil Block of the Month quilt.  I am ready to arrange and piece the top ready for quilting.
12. My Crossroad Quilt. I am still working on the blocks, 12 done and 13 to go if I settle on 25 blocks. I am undecided about a border I may just make some more block to make it bigger.

New things to do for 2015.
Pat Sloan's Vacation Time Block of the month
Fat Quarter Shop Snapshot Block of the Month. This is going to be a special present.
Quiltmaker's New Year Mystery Quilt
So Scrappy Rainbow Scrap Challenge 15
Stretching your Skills 2015
Aurifil Mini Project of the Month. I may not make them all just the ones I really like.

There is a few more possible project starts in the pipeline like I want to make a Dear Jane quilt maybe 2015 is the year to start it. I also want to do some foundation piecing as I have 2 patterns I brought over the last year. Who knows what else I will start in 2015.
