Vintage Rose workshop Update

I have been very quiet here on my blog. I have been struggling to keep up with everything recently and something had to give. I am trying to get back on deck. On Sunday we have Workshop #3 of our Vintage Rose Quilt with Quiltworx CI Elizabeth. We are making some good progress on our quilts.
Some action happening. The workshops are intense, we have a lot to learn each time. With that said this workshop was a little laid back than the previous ones.
We also took the time to lay out everyone's progress, so we could all get a taste of what our quilts will look like.
 This one is Tina's.
 This one is Maureen's
 This one is Joanne's.
 This one is Marjorie's
 This one is Judith's version
Lastly this one is mine.
Next month we go in different directions. Three of us are doing the queen version and we have lots of work still to do. Two ladies are doing a stripe border like Elizabeth's sample and one is keeping it as simple as it can be.

Vintage Rose Workshop Part 2

On Sunday we had are second Vintage Rose workshop, which is a technique of the month. In all we have 6 workshops to learn all the techniques to make our versions of this quilt. In the two workshops so far they have been full on with lots to learn , plus there is lots of homework to complete once we go home.

In this workshop we were working on the rose bud section. The outer spikey section is similar to what we did in the first workshop, so that was straight forward. We cut and started the stitching. The rest will be part of our homework.

The lone star bud section was the new technique we had to learn in this workshop. Once cut out we headed back to the sewing machines for some strip piecing.  Very interesting way of doing it.  By the end of it we ended up with a section that looks like this. This one is mine.

There is lots of cutting and sewing involved and I am sure there will be more. Now we have our homework to complete. The catch is there is 8 of each section, so it will take us a little while to complete. Plus I have put on a catch up/help class each month to help anyone who needs help. You do have to remember I am doing the class with the ladies so I am learning as we go too.
Hopefully next month I will have some pictures of the other ladies progress.

Vintage Rose - Technique of the Month

Vintage Rose is a six part technique of the month program we are running in 2019. It will start on the 3rd February 2019 with the first full day workshop (9.30 am – 4 pm). Each month we will explore a new foundation paper piecing technique with Elizabeth Chadwick, who is a Quiltworx certified instructor as we work our way through the stunning Vintage Rose quilt.  The workshops are $75 each and the first payment is due on booking, then $75 when you attend each workshop. If you attend the five workshops your last workshop uses the $75 deposit you paid on booking. If you don’t turn up for a workshop without notifying the shop you will lose your booking deposit. Pattern and fabrics are extra and on booking I will give you the requirements. Fabrics purchased at Cynthia’s Ark for this program will be at the special workshop price. Any questions let me know.  The following pictures have come from Quiltworx. These give you some ideas on colour ways.

Don't forget we have Elizabeth's Vintage Rose hanging in the shop if you want a closer look. It is the one at the top of this blog post.
