Look who has arrived.

The first lot of animals have arrived with Oliver guidance. Let me introduce them to you.
These cuties have come from Melly and Me beautiful range of soft toys (softies) and I can see more coming in the near future. Plus some from other designers that have been recommended.
 Now lets start with Oliver Hoot because he came home  with me from Cotton Carnivale 2015 and is Melly and Me latest design.

Next we have Kiki the cat

Followed by Pebbles the puppy

and Moo Moo

and Piper and Pete

and Five Little Ducks

and just in time for Easter Baby Bunnies

 All of these patterns are now available in my webshop under the Pattern Tab in the Melly and Me category. There will be more to come so if there is an animal you would like to make let me know and I will see if I can get it.

They are lots of fun to make so have a go today. If I can make Oliver they can't be too hard. I may have discovered a new craft to love Softies.

Scrappy Roads Quilt

I have finished my Scrappy Roads quilt. It is a simply quilt designed to used up your scrap stash. I have used the Oh Susanna block for this design. All you need is two main fabric 1 light and 1 dark and large of variety of colours for the rest of the block.

 I have done some simple free motion wave quilting using Aurifil #3817 variegated cotton for this quilt and added a multi coloured stripe binding to finish it off.

 There is a pattern and a batik kit available at www.cynthiasark.com.au if you are interested. Also I have designed this pattern around our Batik Mystery Sampler packs so you could order the pattern and 2 of our BMS packs and used your stash for the 2 main fabrics and binding.

Side Tracked

I was supposed to be working on these scrappy blocks so I could assemble the quilt top and finish it off. Well I didn't even touch it in the end. Instead I cut into some of the new batik fabrics that have arrived. I just couldn't help myself and before I knew it I had a pile of half square triangles for a new project.

 I need to finish trimming them to 4.5 inches but then they are ready to lay out and join together for this quick easy project I have created. With a couple of borders it will make an excellent weekend project. We never seem to have enough time so sometimes we need a quick and easy project that we can make in a hurry.

New Kit in the Making

This is what I have been working on today. Here is the final stage of a new kit featuring English Paper Piecing. 

These kits are a great introduction to English Paper piecing if you haven't tried it before or would be a great quick and easy project for gift giving, the home, office etc. I'm not going to show you the finished project here today as we will be releasing this kit at the Barossa Craft Fair & Market on the 29th November at the Tanunda Show Hall, Tanunda, South Australia.

I will be doing some demonstrations of this technique during the day, so if you are new this will be very helpful to get you started.

You will have to wait to see it, but we will be releasing the pattern for my Cynthia's Flower Garden Quilt also and as I have posted a picture before and I have quilters waiting on this release. Sorry for the delay. Here is what it looks like, just in case you haven't seen it.

Too much to do and not enough time to do everything that needed to be done.

Batik Rainbow Fabric Club Update

The early evening view outside from inside the shop. The main street gets really quiet after hours. My current view from my sewing machine, just doing some sewing and thinking.

A good friend passed a general comment on sampler quilts a couple weeks ago that had me thinking about my sampler quilt for the fabric club. I like to cover all my bases regarding any possible questions that may come up on a new project. This comment was "I am over Sampler quilts"  It was a statement I had not given much thought on earlier beside the fact you don't have to make the sampler quilt you can just collect the fabric.

Our Batik Fabric club is more than just fabric and a sampler quilt. Now who doesn't love receiving a parcel of fabric with a block pattern in the mail? 

I know I do, especially when it is a  themed surprise.

So when you join our 2015 Batik Rainbow Fabric Club, each month you receive 4 x 30cm (total of 1.2 metres) of colour themed batik fabrics, a block pattern and a quilt layout suggestion for that block. Plus exclusive discounts in our web shop on other purchases (e.g. free postage, free gifts, etc.) and charm square sample packs when new batik fabrics arrive free. So really you are starting  a batik fabric collection (or adding to one) and a block library with instructions and with 12 extra quilt layouts you are receive 13  possible quilts to make, even if you don't make them straight away or use different fabrics, it is up to you how you use the block patterns. I am sure there is many more quilt possibilities with 11 blocks collected over 2015. If this fabric club goes well, there may be more in the future to continue building your block library.
