A New Block of the Month

I have been really quiet here in blogging land. I am still catching up on work from when I was away. It is great to get away but not so great when you come back to a pile of work taller than yourself. Well that's what it feels like. Next time I need to do something about it, so it doesn't happen again or at least not as bad.
The Gypsy Wife Block of the Month is wrapping up over the next couple of months and it is time to let you know what our new Block of the Month program will be.

I like the programs to have different techniques so you can try something different. Plus I like you to have options in the Block of the Month so if you don't like needle turn applique you could machine applique instead.
The new Block of the Month is a Sue Daley Design called Evergreen. I have Sue's quilt in the shop on loan if you want a closer look.

Now the fabrics in our version will be different to Sue's.
Here's the centre block of our version stitched.
The Evergreen block of the month will run over 9 months and will be $36 plus postage each month. You will receive over the 9 months the pattern, acrylic templates, papers for the English paper piecing, fabric for the top and binding.
During the course of this program you will be doing needleturn applique or machine applique, English paper piecing and Hand piecing or machine piecing. So there is a variety of techniques included in this project. This block of the month will start in September, so in the meantime check my blog regularly for my block progress so you get a feel of what the quilt will look like. I can tell you we are using Riley Blake Designs fabrics.
You will be able join this block of the month on our website, ring the shop or visit. Please note when you sign up you are committing to the full 9 months and payment needs to be made with a credit card. You will be able to sign up from the 15th July 2018.

June's One Monthly Goal Completed

I tell you nothing gets you moving quicker than a deadline. I used the deadline to its fullest on this one as it was for the Where do Flowers Blooming blog hop.
Here is where I started at the beginning of the month. Post here.
I had to do something with these English paper pieced blocks and this is what I ended up with a sweet little table runner.
Now I know it isn't a large project but it is a finished project and that counts. I have linked my post up with Elm Street Quilts post, so pop over and check out all the other projects that have been completed this month.

Where Flowers Bloom Blog Hop- My Daisy Stop

Welcome to my turn on the Where Flowers Bloom blog hop. A big thank to Carla from Creatin' in the Sticks for hosting us. We must be a handful sometimes. Here is the schedule for today's bloggers. I have included the full schedule at the bottom of my post for you to be able to check out what everyone has created for this blog hop.

I had a plan when I signed up to do this blog hop. I had to factor in the fact I was going to be away all of  May so the plan was to do a combination of machine piecing and English Paper piecing so I could stitch while I was away. Then there would only be a little bit of machine sewing when I got home and write up my blog post.
The easiest choice was the floral fabric I wanted to use. That was Garden Delights by Gray Sky Studio. I have used it a few times recently. So while I was away I managed to stitch up five hexagon flowers. You just have to have hexagon flowers for a flower themed blog hop.
In the end I only used three for my Garden Delights table runner as I was running out of time.
This is what the back of my Hexagon flower looks as I remove the papers before I appliqued them on to the  6 1/2 " background squares. Then added some flower sashing and borders.

A piece of batting, backing fabric  and a little quilting finished my little table runner off.

June's One Monthly Goal

May was a bust sewing wise! I am not surprised being on holiday and sewing turned out harder than I expected. I didn't complete enough to make it worth while linking up at the end of May. I am sure that project will turn up again as I have only finished the first block.
Onto June  and happier sewing times now that I am home. So this month I have to turn these flowers blocks into a completed project.  These did get made while I was away. The original idea has fallen by the waist side. So let's see what I can make with these. There is a bonus to this project - there is a deadline for this project so I know it will be finished at the end of the month. Just a little bit of pressure.  I do have some more hexagon cut out if I need some more. These are 1/2" hexagons I have used in these flowers.

I have linked my post with Elm Street Quilts so pop over and have a look at what everyone is working on. You may want to join us.

2018- 350 Block Report- May

This month's total is 30 blocks.

Well what can I say. April was a disaster sewing wise. With two bulging discs in my lower back slowing me down has not helped my cause. This month saw me on holiday without a lot of sewing time especially with only hand sewing as an option.
One block on the new block of the month done.

5 blocks for a secret project which needs to be completed by next week. I better get a move on, if i am going to finish it on time. Lucky it is only a small project.

Two Hexagon blocks for another project.

So my total for May is 8 blocks. I think I need to do something about this lack of sewing.
