Now on to my block.  Every garden needs a focus tree in my opinion, size doesn't matter as gardens can be tiny or they cn be huge. So that why I have created a tree which will be my centre block when I get around to creating my Garden quilt from the patterns collected..

This block is suitable for a quilter who has the basic skills as it only has half square triangles in it. You can find my pattern HERE.

I have the pleasure of having a Northcott Giveaway for everyone today. Northcott will send you a bundle from one of these in the picture below.  This is a worldwide giveaway - USA winners will wait until the Row Along ends for shipping to take place and USA winners will pay shipping cost.

Project Uninterrupted Retreat 2020

We have had a full weekend at Nunyara Conference Centre, Belair South Australia of sewing, laughing, chatting and eating. We arrived Friday afternoon and some were sewing before dinner. Others were still settling in. After dinner  most of the group were sewing working on a variety of projects, some old, some started recently and a few brand new projects.  This year I selected 4 new patterns and kitted them up as requested from last year's feedback form. Small projects that could be completed over the weekend. There was a  zipped pouch, a little bag with or without embroidery on it and 2 quilt kits. All at a special retreat price.

Some of these kits are now available in store if they take your fancy.

Three days of a huge variety of projects and different skill levels. Really looking at all the projects, it is rather inspiring. At events like this, it gives you the chance to see some projects that you may not be game to try and talk to the person making it to find out more about the making  of it. Sometimes projects look really difficult but when broken down may not be as hard as you originally thought. Also doing  a project with a friend who has the same kit can be a great help too.

As you can see lots was achieved over the weekend.

Under the Pressure Foot 2020- 3

It has been crazy with pressure building around me. I don't know what happened this week but all of a sudden the pressure vanished and I found myself thinking I can do this. How long this will last I don't know. I can only go two ways I manage to stay on top of things and nailing the task laid on me to complete or I crash and burn, failing to complete everything.

So after Saturday's Project Uninterrupted session in the shop, there was a bolt out as I cut some for one of the ladies in the session. She asked me how long those bolts had been there for. I said quite a while, I had a quilt plan in my head, knowing I would have to do something with them to get the quilters wanting to use these large scale prints.

Since I had the bolt out I thought what the hell and cut  what I needed. If it is cut I am more likely to start the sewing. Simple large blocks. Before I knew it I had the machine out and I was making the blocks.

You know where this is going! How many times have we told ourselves a

couple blocks to see what they will look like and I will return to the other jobs I need to complete.  Five blocks later I was considering do I have time to sew the blocks together? Yes let's keep going. So I did. Blocks all sewn together and I still had time before leaving for dinner, so I sewed the first two pieces together.

At this point I got really excited with only one seam to go and I had just enough time. Lucky I didn't have to get changed for dinner so I went for it. The only issue was  I took a short cut and didn't double check my measurements. Oops I just went for it. With no pins I couldn't even fudge it and easy it in.
So that ended my session, so close to finishing a quilt top in 2 1/2 hours. I just turned everything off and left it there, with the thought of it wasn't a late night I could unpick the last seam when I got home. It didn't happen. On Sunday morning I made that my first job, unpick the seam and fix it.  There you go all done. I think there's a workshop in this.

Such a simple quilt in the end that can be made in an afternoon from cutting to quilt top. I have a number of bolts in the shop that could create variation of this.
I can see another one in my future, but for now back to what I need to do.

One Monthly Goal- September's Goal

This month I have selected this project to work on. It is a Quiltworx project -Poinsettia. It's a table topper. It is one of the projects I need to finish. I started it last month and need to get it to quilt top pretty quickly. All the piecing is done but I now need to add the border pieces and sew it all together.

I have linked my post with Elm Street Quilts goal setting post. Pop over and check out what everyone is up to this month.
