My Favourite Quilt Block Blog Hop

My day on the My Favourite Quilt Blog Hop. I thought this would be an easy one to choose until I put some thought into it. There are so many I love a couple of times I thought I would feature my current project because often at the sewing stage it is my favourite. Then I thought what about the blocks I return to time after time for what ever reason I need a block, Four patch, half square triangles. How many have we made of them over the years?
In the end I decide the Log Cabin block is a my favourite. It has a number of different layouts and depending on how you use it some times it doesn't even look like a log cabin block.
This is my first log cabin quilt and my all time favourite.

The blocks are 6 inch and I hand pieced them as my take anyway project over a couple of years. It is full of my batik scraps and believe or not I still have some bags of precut strips left over.

Recently I was string piecing a bag of blue strips for another blog hop project and thought that is the end of the blue strips. Well I was wrong I found another bag of blue strips when I was looking for one of the other leftover colour strips for a bag project I wanted to try. Would you believe it? Do you think I use a lot of blue? lol

Make sure you visit everyone on the schedule as you never know what block might take your fancy to try or fall in love with.

That's a whole lot of hand piecing and it's breathtakingly beautiful. It's amazing what can be done with the log cabin.

I love that this is hand pieced. You have to really love a block to do that for sure. Beautiful quilt and fun log cabin pattern. Glad you are ok and love that you were able to hop with us.

Not til you mentioned about using lots of blue did I realize how much blue is actually in your quilt. The brights pop so brightly because of the blue. Great effect.

It's sew beautiful, and what a cool take along project! There are so many blocks we use as foundations of our quilts, I understand the difficulty in picking a favorite.
