350 Block Project - June's Report

This month's total is 30 blocks.
I started with finishing some quilting and binding before swapping back to my 1/4" foot and back to block making and I must say I am feeling good to get 3 projects cleared away.
So where do I start.
More Scrap Crazy blocks this time controlled placement of fabrics is going to give a totally different look though the block layout is the same. It is all in the fabric. 16 blocks.

Three test blocks for the Christmas Sampler I needed to test the blocks for size. I didn't want to waste the Sampler fabric in case my measurements were out.

Once the the test blocks were correct I made my 4 blocks for this month.

Only 3 pictures, why have I missed 1 block. I don't know.

One test block for my next Stash Bash Sewing Party which is going to be scrappy. Well my scrappy.
 Secret at this stage.

Four octagon blocks for the All Over the Octagon Fussy Cutting Fabric Club.

My Scrap Dance quilt finally has the rows sewn together for 4 more to my total.

Along with my blocks from Quiltmaker 2015 New Year mystery quilt along are now a quilt top for 12 more.

So in the end the total is 44 for this month.

Time to finish a Project.

I haven't done a lot this month as other things have got in the way. I have 2 quilts waiting for binding to finish them off. So I selected the smaller one which is Quilt #4 from my Stash Bash Sewing Party Booklet available to purchase at Cynthia's Ark. The binding had been prepared earlier so I was ready to sew it on.

I love the quilting on it. Does it look familiar?

If you have seen Quilt #1 Catch Me if You Dare it should be familiar as it is the same pattern and thread.

Binding is on and I just need to turn it over and hand stitch it in place. Then it will be ready to hang on my stand at the Stitches and Craft Show next week with two of the others from the Stash Bash Sewing Party Booklet.

350 Block Project- March's Report

This month total is 30 blocks.

More work on the Stash Bash projects. I finished Breezy Baskets off by sewing up the last  2 rows them joining the last 3 rows together with 2 borders, making it 7 for this one.

Some more work on Diamonds in the Breeze so for 14 more Windmill blocks and 14 diamond blocks. 5 rows sewn with 4 sashing strips and 2 borders for a total of 39.

The last eight Scrap Dance block finished. Now I have to sew all the blocks together and sewn into 5 rows, a total 13.

I also finished the last 8 blocks from February clue on the Scrap Dance Tango. Plus the 10 blocks for March are done. No Picture I swear I took the photos but I can't find them.

2 very large wonky blocks.

From Cotton Carnivale 2016 I have completed 2 octagon blocks, and a basket block.

Yes they are staples in my basket block. It is Leonie way of securing the basket to the background. I still need to remove them.

In the end I did all right for March with a total of 82.

Stash Bash Sewing Party

We had our first ever Stash Bash Sewing Party on Saturday. The workshop is based around one block that make four different quilts. The quilt  that everyone decided to make was the Catch Me if you Dare quilt which features on the cover of the booklet.

The pattern booklet and fabric pack are available at a special price until midnight Monday 14th March (Adelaide time). The pattern booklet is available in PDF format and Paper format. This way everyone is covered.
The Sewing Party went down a treat. Everyone was eager to learn and sew. That made my job easier.
I was really nervous about how the workshop was going to go but in the end it was a party with lots of fun. Lots of blocks were made. Mandy and Lisa completed their 72 blocks each and pieced together in their windmill blocks with Julie at 35 blocks getting her half way through her blocks.
Julie's Block
Mandy's Block
Lisa's Block

Lisa and Julie are make theirs with the La Vie Boheme fabric pack and Mandy is using the Dazzling Blues fabric range which she has been looking for a special project, so she could cut into it. Now there is some Dazzling Blue fabrics left in store and I can make up some Stash Bash Sewing Party fabric packs up if everyone is interested. Just let me know.

Plus we even had some fun playing a few hands of Calendar Bingo after lunch. A customer favourite these days and there was prizes for the winners.

On Sunday I have the Diamonds in the Breeze quilt been made in the workshop. This is a slightly harder project, only in in the fact it has two blocks in it but still they are made from the same block but the fabrics are in different places in one block. Plus a lot more blocks to be made. Now this one hasn't been made yet, so I am looking forward to seeing this one come together.
I will try and take a few more photos today. I was too busy in Saturday workshop teaching and helping that taking photos didn't cross my mind but at least I did get a picture of their first completed windmill block.
I will run this workshop again later in the year so if you couldn't make this weekend workshops,  let me know what dates would suit and I will see if I can arrange another Stash Bash Sewing Party sooner than later.

Stash Bash Sewing Party Update #3

On Saturday our first Stash Bash Sewing Party is happening in store. Plus you can buy the pattern booklet and fabric pack online if you can't make one of the in store workshop. I will reschedule this workshop again a little later in the year for those who were interested but the dates did not suit this time. Fabric requirements can be found on this post if you just want to buy the pattern booklet and make your version. If you do I would love to see it via our Facebook page
Today I want to share Project #3 The Breezy Basket Quilt. This is the hardest of the four projects in the booklet as there 2 blocks and the basket block has a left and right handed blocks to be made. It is still achievable but you have to take a little more care when piecing.

I am looking forward to Saturday workshop, everything is nearly ready. Just need to take care of morning/afternoon tea. Plus remember the shop is open on Saturday and Sunday if you want to pop in for some shopping. It is a long weekend here in South Australia so it is the perfect time to pay us a visit.

350 Block Project 2016 -February's Report.

It is time for February 350 Block Project report. This month's total is 30.

No sewing in the first week of February but a lot of designing and pattern writing happened. With the Christmas Reproduction Sampler Block of the Month I am trying writing the block instructions before I make the blocks instead of making notes as I make the block then writing. So I have completed my 3 February blocks.

Plus I have pulled out my Scrap Dance project. The block components needed arranging into their order and then the blocks can be sewn together. This was a mystery quilt from last year and it is on my Project Uninterrupted list to completed. 11 blocks completed so far.

Next more work on the Stash bash project #1, the last row of blocks were joined together and then I sewed the 6 rows together and the 2 borders for a total 9. Plus it is finished.

Then there was the second Stash Bash project more blocks. I made 2 basket blocks and 8 windmill blocks. 10 more to the total.
I have started my blocks for the Scrap Dance Tango quilt along.so far 2 blocks completed.
This last week of February was not very good. I sure of made a few more blocks than I did but it is too late now.
February's total is 35 blocks.
My year total so far is 96 blocks.

Last Day in February.

A leap year so we have an extra day in February. I have wondered on and off during my life what makes February special for it to only have 28 days and every fourth year 29 days. Who selected February, it could have been any month couldn't it? No matter what- we have an extra day this year and we should not waste it. I don't know if other people have wondered about this or is it just because I am a February baby, born on the 28th February in a leap year. Today I thought I would share with everyone my latest finish and my current favourite. Catch Me if you Dare Quilt.

It is Project # 1 from the Stash Bash Sewing Party which is happening between the 12-14th March. There is 2 workshops in store and you have four quilt patterns to choose from to make in the workshop. One block four quilt. Raid your stash for the fabrics or purchase the Stash Bash Fabric pack which features La Vie Boheme fabric by The Quilted Fish for Riley Blake Designs. Join us online if you can't make a workshop. The fabric packs are available now at $70 from the website and the pattern will be available next week in PDF format and paper format.
A couple of close up shots of the fantastic quilting Valerie did for me using Glide thread that we stock.

Lastly my favourite shot of this quilt. Any questions about the Stash bash Sewing Party just ask. I am happy to help.
