Welcome to Just Let Me Quilt's Put a Little Love in Your Quilt Blog Hop.
Today is my day to share my project with you. Now all the project in this blog hop have to have a heart featured somewhere in the project.
I decided to has some fun with some English paper pieced hearts. There is a couple of ways to make hearts too. Looking through my stash of papers and templates I had the Jewel shape and when you put two together you get a heart shape, like this.
So after making a stack of hearts I had a play with them and ended up with 5 hearts join in a circle creating a star shape. It is a nice surprise when you get a secondary pattern. That is why I called this project Stars of my Heart. It is an easy block to make. You prepare your shapes and sew two jewels together to create the hearts.
Lay the hearts out in a circle so they are just touching and applique in place.
The rest is standard sew your blocks together with sashing strips following by a border then the second border. These are very basic instructions, if you are experienced quilter you could probably work it out.
Then there was quilting and binding to do and we were all done.
Now I will add this block to the Cynthia's Ark Block Library with the full instructions for the table runner which can easily be made into a quilt by making more blocks. You can sign up for the Block Library on the top right hand side of my blog. That way it will get it to your inbox when I release it with a newsletter.
The fabrics I used in this project came from Sue Daley's Beaujolais range. To celebrate this Blog Hop I have put together a little bundle of Beaujolais fabrics for you to win. Now if you don't win and want some of these fabrics you can find them in my webshop.
All you have to do to be in the chance of winning this bundle is tell me what you like to receive on Valentine's Day from your Valentine.

That is the sweetest table runner. Great method for the hearts. Thank you for sharing the technique. My hubby would be smart to bring me some chocolate, but this year the 14th is ash Wednesday, so I guess we will celebrate the day before.
ReplyDeleteA very sweet table runner! My hubby and I don't celebrate Valentine's Day, but I hope to get a kiss from him, anyway!
ReplyDeleteMy husband nearly always makes us both a cuppa first thing in the morning that we share watching the bird life land in our garden. A lovely gentle way to start our day. (I make the cuppa son his birthday)
ReplyDeleteA lovely little project. Great job.
ReplyDeleteI lost my Valentine last year, but I used to love just a card and a hug.

ReplyDeleteI love stars and hearts, wonderful way to put them together ! I like flowers for valentines I suppose, but I should tell him I would rather get a fruit tree !

ReplyDeleteA hug and a kiss is all I need from my hubby.
Oh my love the table runner. We don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day. But my hubby does surprise me with chocolates sometimes.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute project. Your fussy-cut pieces are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, so creative you are!
ReplyDeleteThank you for bringing a great table runner...it’s the perfect Valentines Day decoration! My Beloved of 43 yrs always gives me the most loving and sweet card, as well as one beautiful single rose. More than yesterday, less than tomorrow...!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, and very inspirational....gives me some ideas too. I used to get red roses on Valentine's day from my sweetheart.
ReplyDeleteOne of my projects is epp jewels too...great minds think alike :) Very pretty setting.
ReplyDeleteCute table topper, it would be a cute addition to my quilt and coasters! I try and get a romantic dinner out, but his year I think I will do a romantic red dinner in.
ReplyDeleteLove how the hearts make a star.
ReplyDeleteI have some of these EPP shapes - love the look of the hearts making the star center.
ReplyDeleteThat is so nice and I love the secondary star pattern it creates.
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely heart Valentine project for home decor. My idea for a Valentine is not very romantic but would love it if my hubby got me a GO cutter. rozz01(at)cox(dot)net
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet Valentine project! Thank you for sharing. My idea for a great Valentine's Day gift from my husband would be a special meal, just for me. I love his pasta with shrimp and garlic sauce, along with a salad and bread, with a nice glass of wine. Maybe some chocolate-dipped strawberries for dessert.
ReplyDeleteI love all the hearts I'm seeing.
ReplyDeleteI am sew impressed with your English paper piecing! I have not done anything but hexies--must try other shapes. Some dark chocolate would be a perfect Valentine for me--or more fabric. :) Ha! Thanks for sharing your lovely project!
ReplyDeleteMy husband is not one for celebrating greeting card days. However, I do appreciate when he comments on the love I put into preparing the specialty meals he requires for a medical condition. Makes the tedium all worthwhile.
ReplyDeleteI love your sweet little heart project.
Thank you for sharing this project.I always appreciate a lovely bunch of flowers
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely table runner. It's such a simple and effective design. I can't resist anything with a heart! We don't really celebrate Valentine's Day because my birthday is just a couple days later. However, as a result, since I was a little girl everyone always gives me heart gifts on my birthday!! It could be a lot worse and this isn't meant to be a complaint!
ReplyDeleteWho can not resist making something with fabric hearts! I've make lots of St Valentine's day projects, mostly table runners. It's so fun to decorate with them at this time of year. I like getting flowers, as they are so romantic.

Fabric with hearts or a candy bar would be a great valentine.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, so sweet. I love EPP and it's very creative of you to make these hearts in a circle. Stars of my Heart is a perfect title. I love getting chocolate covered strawberries from my Valentine.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely not seen hearts made up in that way before
ReplyDeleteVery cute!! I told my husband not to buy me dinner or flowers or candy for Valentine's Day anymore but get me some fat quarters. Last year he didn't get me anything. When I asked why not, he said, "because it's too hard to choose fabric." So I said, "don't worry, I like them all." I'll see if he comes through this year. kthurn(at)bektel(dot)com
ReplyDeleteLove your project! Also love when hubby gets me black licorice (he totally hates it, so I don’t even have to share!!).
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat. I don't think I've ever EPP'd anything other than a Hexie. This heart/start is awesome. Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteYour tablerunner is so sweet-so many pretty red & pink fabrics showing up for Valentine's Day - I love it!! To be taken out for a quiet dinner & enjoy some "us" time is my favorite Valentine's Day to-do thing! Thank you for sharing, Susan
ReplyDeleteSome Rocky Road candy from See's would go a long way...
ReplyDeleteI am on a diet, so no candy. Therefore I love receiving flowers roses if possible. garvey56@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteSo adorable!!
ReplyDeleteA nice quiet evening at home and being told I am still his valentine.
ReplyDeleteOh, those are beautiful! I love that you fussy-cut the fabrics to place the fabric just so. I hadn't seen this EPP shape used this way to create a heart. So pretty. For Valentine's day, as for any other holiday, I've always told my family that I want a clean house and happy kids. And chocolate dipped strawberries. Thanks for sharing the love today!
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness, how sweet is that! Nice job!
ReplyDeleteYour hearts are beautiful. So fun with the fussy cutting! I am always happy with a card and flowers on Valentines. I am lucky in love!!
ReplyDeleteI love your hearts! My husband of 35 yrs is still my Valentine. He always surprises me with something different!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute gift bag for your granddaughter. She will love it. My partner knows that I like body products soap, shower gels, lotions so he will probably bring me a basket of products home with flowers. It's the romance of it all and he really likes picking out the soaps and lotions himself to surprise me.

ReplyDeleteI would just love to kiss my sweet husband on Valentine's Day. I'm taking care of my dad 750 miles away...he has to work and I can't leave my dad, so it will be only a phone call. One of these years we will get to spend Valentine's Day together. Your EPP hearts are adorable.
ReplyDeleteNice table runner, like the secondary stars. I hope to get a card and chocolate from my valentine.
ReplyDeleteVery cool table runner. I would be happy with a Valentine's card. Thanks for sharing. angielovesgary2 atgmail dotcom
ReplyDeleteIsn't it cool when you find a secondary pattern like these stars? The three blocks together make an adorable runner! Perfect fabric choices too! After 34+ years of marriage to my sweetie, all I need and want is a promise to love me forever and hug me whenever I need one. He's a one-in-a-million kind of guy!

This is so cute. I don't have a valentine, so I buy myself a treat, often chocolate and fabric. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet surprise, lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe print fabric you used for these paper pieced hearts is beautiful. I think that bundle will be very popular item in your shop!
ReplyDeleteMy Valentine knows I like flowers and prefer something living, like primroses or pansies that I can plant after enjoying in the house for a bit. This time of year I am eager for some sunshine and can’t wait till spring here on North America!
On Valentine's Day (or any day) I Love to receive marzipan and/or some uninterrupted time while I take a long bath.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I adore the fabric you chose!
Oh my you did an excellent job! I have played with English Paper Piecing but have not done anything that big/nice yet. I am looking forward to doing something in the near future. Thanks so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful creation and great inspiration! I don't have a valentine at present.
ReplyDeleteOh boy! Even before I saw you were having a drawing for the fabric I was thinking how I wished I had some of that selection! I've never made any thing as you describe. A table runner would be very nice to make and have though.
ReplyDeleteI would like to have coffee and a chat with my Valentine - and a special muffin or pastry.
Thank you for sharing.
I love your heart project and the star that is created! The thing that I like to receive most from my Valentine is the gift of time. We both have very busy schedules, but make sure to spend a lot of time together on Valentine's Day. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteI like your runner and the jewel shape papers gave me a little lightbulb moment! They are just like the Hex n More ruler, which I have.
ReplyDeleteVery cute runner! We're not much for Valentine's gifts but dinner out is lovely.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful project Cynthia. I enjoyed seeing how the star came into play and yea, I love it when you get a secondary design. I also love that you fussy cut the shapes it just really lifts the whole runner.
ReplyDeleteHow clever to use the EPP units for making hearts-in-the-round. Love the star they form. This is a pretty table runner.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing to share with my DH is having him have a pain free day so we can share some laughter and maybe a hug or two. It also means I get guilt free time in my studio! Love the EPO hearts! Another project to add to the to do list! Thanks Cynthia!
