Places We Go- February's Block

Here we are nearly at the end of February and here is this month block completed.
If you haven't collected this month's block visit Here.

This month I have used pink for my colour. It is a machine pieced block this time. It is going to be good to have a variety of techniques over the 12 months.

I did have a little printed check that happened to be the right size for the sashing strips which would of work perfectly if I started at the centre of the block rather than the outside of the block. You can see my part block on the left side of the sashing that has stuffed the whole effect up. I did the right side correctly and it worked.

So when I have a few spare minutes I will unpick it and fix it, but for this post I am willing to share that I am only human with you.

A Day with the Jubilee Quilters

I had the day with the Jubilee Quilters. I had the pleasure of taking the shop to them. I get to catch up with the ladies and I get to do  some stitching. A good mix of work and pleasure. I see some of the ladies regularly but some I don't see enough.

I love to see what everyone is working on, there is always a good mix of hand sewing and machine sewing when I get to visit.

At the moment you can join them stitching on a Saturday for $5 a session. I am happy to pass on more details if you are interested. Just me know. You can bring any stitching project.

A Full Weekend of Classes- Kate's Curved Ruler Table Runner Workshop

We have a full weekend here at Cynthia's Ark. A class on Saturday and Sunday, unfortunately due to the heat on Friday I did cancel Friday nights Summer School session and reschedule it for this coming Friday. In a way that was a good thing as originally when I planned the class schedule the Summer School Placemat class was to run after the Beginner's Class On Ruler Work Quilting, so those who wanted to play more with the ruler work could have a follow up class and actually work on a project.  Due to the extreme  heat a few weeks ago that class was cancelled and rescheduled for this weekend. It is Sunday class. So now everything is back in the right order. Spots  are still available for the Placemat workshop.

Now on Saturday we had Kate's Curved Ruler Table Runner workshop. A full day workshop on learning how to cut curves and then sew them correctly.
Kate's Class Sample.

Here are some progress shots of everyone's blocks being made.

Plus by the evening we had one table runner completed by Shelly who went home and finished her table runner.

You will find all our workshops listed under the Events/ Workshop tab here on my blog or sign up for my newsletter and you will receive it in your inbox when I release the schedule. Our classes are small due to the size of our Classroom so book early to secure your place. It also mean you get quality time with the teacher. All workshops are held in store at Mallala, unless stated elsewhere.

Put a Little Love in Your Quilt Blog Hop

Welcome to Just Let Me Quilt's Put a Little Love in Your Quilt Blog Hop.
Today is my day to share my project with you. Now all the project in this blog hop have to have a heart featured somewhere in the project.
I decided to has some fun with some English paper pieced hearts. There is a couple of ways to make hearts too. Looking through my stash of papers and templates I had the Jewel shape and when you put two together you get a heart shape, like this.

So after making a stack of hearts I had a play with them and ended up with 5 hearts join in a circle creating a star shape. It is a nice surprise when you get a secondary pattern. That is why I called this project Stars of my Heart. It is an easy block to make. You prepare your shapes and sew two jewels together to create the hearts.

Lay the hearts out in a circle so they are just touching and applique in place.

The rest is standard sew your blocks together with sashing strips following by a border then the second border. These are very basic instructions, if you are experienced quilter you could probably work it out.

Then there was quilting and binding to do and we were all done.

Now I will add this block to the Cynthia's Ark Block Library with the full instructions for the table runner which can easily be made into a   quilt by making more blocks. You can sign up for the Block Library on the  top right hand side of my blog. That way it will get it to your inbox when I release it with a newsletter.

The fabrics I used in this project came from Sue Daley's Beaujolais range. To celebrate this Blog Hop I have put together a little bundle of Beaujolais fabrics for you to win. Now if you don't win and want some of these fabrics you can find them in my webshop.

All you have to do to be in the chance of winning this bundle is tell me what you like to receive on Valentine's Day from your Valentine.

Don't forget to visit everyone participating here is the rest of today's bloggers.

February's One Monthly Goal Project

January's project done. Now what do I want to do in February. There is a number of projects that need to be completed. The list is long and what do I choose out of all of them, the newest project. Yes that's right, not one that has been hanging around 12 months or longer in some cases but the newest one. I want to finish all the blocks in my Desert Sky quilt which we started during January.

I have done 18 so only another 18 to go. It should be interesting challenge. I am not sure if I can do it but I will try.
I have linked my post with Elm Street Quilts post, so pop over and check out what everyone is up to during February.

18 Desert Sky Blocks made.

This month total is 27 blocks.
